Defodau’r Nadolig
Ysgrifenna’r Is-Ddeon:
Mae’r wythnos o’n blaenau’n amser prysur i ni yma yn y Gadeirlan ac ar draws dinas Bangor. O’n perfformiad o’r Meseia heno, trwy Naw Llith nos Iau, i Wasanaeth y Preseb, Cymun Eglwys y Groes a’n Cymun Canol Nos cerddorfaol ar Noswyl Nadolig, i’n gwasanaethau bore Dolig, offrymir gwledd o addoliad, gweddi, cerddoriaeth a gwasanaeth i ogoniant Duw ym Mangor y dyddiau nesaf hyn.
Aiff fy niolch ymlaen llaw i bawb o bob rhan o deulu’r Gadeirlan a fydd yn cyfrannu y tu hwnt i’r galw i sicrhau defodau teilwng.
Fy ngobaith yw y byddwch yn gallu cyfranogi cymaint â phosibl o’r hyn a gynigir, ac y gallech ystyried gwahodd ffrindiau sydd angen llawenydd a hedd y baban Iesu yn eu bywydau y Nadolig hwn i ddod gyda chi.
Fy ngweddi yw y bydd y dyddiau hyn yn amser bendigaid i bob un ohonom.
Cefnogi Banc Bwyd y Gadeirlan y Nadolig hwn

Roeddem yn ddiolchgar am roddion o hetiau, sgarffiau, menig, sanau a thaclau ymolchi. Cafodd 75 o anrhegion eu lapio brynhawn Sul diwethaf, gan gynnwys rhai anrhegion ychwanegol i blant. Diolch arbennig i’n tîm papur lapio, a weithiodd yn galed drwy’r prynhawn. Croesewir rhoddion trwy law’r Stiwardiaid ar y Sul o hyd.

Our Christmas observances
The Sub-Dean writes:
The coming week is a busy time for us here at the Cathedral and across the city of Bangor. From our performance of Messiah tonight, through Thursday’s Nine Lessons, to Christmas Eve’s Crib Service, Eucharist at Eglwys y Groes and orchestral Midnight Eucharist, to our Christmas morning services, much worship, prayer, music and service will be offered to the glory of God.
My thanks go in advance to all from across the Cathedral family who will give of themselves beyond the call of duty over the days ahead.
My hope is that you will be able to partake of as much as possible of what is offered, and that you might invite friends who need the joy and peace of the Christ child in their lives this Christmas to come along with you.
My prayer is that this will be a blessed time for all of us.
Supporting the Cathedral Foodbank this Christmas
Our effort to offer additional support to the Cathedral Foodbank this Christmas has been in the form of donations for special items for single adults, whose needs are easily overlooked. We were grateful for donations of hats, scarves, gloves, socks, and toiletries. Seventy five gifts were wrapped last Sunday afternoon, including some additional gifts for children. A special thanks to our wrappers, who worked hard all afternoon. Donations are still welcome via the Stewards on Sundays.
Alex Mills
We welcome the Pembrokeshire-born composer, Alex Mills, to our services this Sunday. Alex is a composer of chamber, orchestral and choral music, and of two recent operas, Dear Marie Stopes and Leonardo. We’re delighted that Alex has accepted a commission to compose a setting of the Seven Last Words on the Cross for our Cathedral Choir, using the Welsh-language text from the 1588 Bible, to be performed here on Good Friday 2023.
Carols with The Snowman
It was super to see the Cathedral so full for our family winter concert last Monday evening. Our thanks to all from across the Cathedral family for the work to support this wonderful event.
Garth Pier
Our thanks go to the Cathedral Choir for braving the fierce weather to play their key part in the Friends of Garth Pier’s Christmas Concert last Sunday afternoon.
