Hysbys wythnosol

Tymor y Nadolig

Rydym yn parhau i gadw'r Ŵyl gan ddathlu'r Ystwyll - dyfodiad y Doethion i Fethlehem - y Sul hwn.

Mae dwy ddefod nodedig yn ystod mis Ionawr yn ategu'n dathliadau o Dymor y Nadolig:

Defod Sancteiddrwydd

Llithoedd a Charolau’r Ystwyll yng Ngolau Cannwyll
Dydd Sul 9 Ionawr am 5.30pm

Yr olaf o’n tair defod draddodiadol, dirdynnol a cherddorol ar nos Sul yn ystod cyfnod y Nadolig. Dewch yn llu – bu’r ddwy ddefod flaenorol yn wych.

Ceremony of Carols

Benjamin Britten | Côr y Gadeirlan
Dydd Sadwrn 29 Ionawr am 5.30pm

Dewch i glywed lleisiau uchaf Côr y Gadeirlan mewn perfformiad ddirdynnol yng ngolau cannwyll o gylch rhyfeddol carolau a gweithiau eraill Benjamin Britten – y ffordd berffaith i ddod â Thymor y Nadolig i ben. Bydd Alys Bailey-Wood yn canu’r delyn. Tocynnau (£10 / £5 / plant yn rhad ac am ddim) ar gael ar y drws.

Sialc ar gyfer ein cartrefi

Fel y daeth y Doethion i’r Stabl ym Methlehem, cartref dros dro’r Teulu Sanctaidd, gan ganfod ynd fendith amhisiadwy, felly mae’n draddodiadol inni weddïo am fendithion Duw ar ein cartrefi yn ystod wythnos Gŵyl yr Ystwyll ac ar drothwy’r Flwyddyn Newydd.

Er mwyn ein helpu i wneud hyn, caiff sialc ei fendithio – arwydd ein bod ni’n llwch y llawr, ond wedi’n galw i undeb â Christ.

Ar y Sul, defnyddiwn y weddi hon i fendithio'r sialc ar ddiwedd y Cymun Bendigaid ar Gân:

Bendithia, O Dduw, y creadur hwn o sialc i’w wneud yn ddyrchafol inni. Caniatâ y bydd i ni sy’n ei ddefnyddio mewn ffydd, a chydag ef yn arysgrifio ar fynedfa ein cartrefi enwau dy Ddoethion bendigedig, Caspar, Melchior a Balthasar, trwy rinweddau Goleuni’r byd, drigo dan gysgod dy adain ac yn llannerch dy gariad holl ddyddiau’n bywyd; trwy’r un Iesu Grist ein Gwaredwr. Amen.

Rydyn ni’n defnyddio’r sialc i arysgrifio llythrennau, rhifau, seren a chroesau uwchlaw neu wrth ymyl ein trothwy. Mae’r rhifau yn nodi’r Flwyddyn Newydd, a’r llythrennau yw llythrennau cyntaf enwau’r Doethion a thalfyriad o’r erfyniad Lladin:

“Christus mansionem benedicat,”

sef:

“Bendithied Crist y cartref hwn.”

Ewch â sialc gyda chi heddiw, a gweddïwch y geiriau byr hynny ar ôl arysgrifio’ch trothwy fel a ganlyn:

2 0 * C + M + B + 2 2

Maes parcio

Bydd trwyddedau ar gyfer parcio yn ystod yr wythnos ym maes parcio’r Gadeirlan yn 2022 ar gael wedi gwasanaethau’r Sul o ddydd Sul 9 Ionawr. Gofynnir am rodd. Yn y cyfamser, nid oes angen trwyddedau ar gyfer parcio yn y maes parcio ar unrhyw adeg; ac ni fydd angen trwyddedau i barcio ar ddydd Sul nes bydd rhybudd pellach.

Buchedd Bangor

MaeCylchgrawn newydd Cadeirlan Deiniol Sant ym Mangor

Mae’r rhifyn cyntaf yn gydymaith i’r cyfnod o Sul yr Adfent (28 Tachwedd) tan ddiwedd tymor y Nadolig ar Ŵyl Fair y Canhwyllau (30 Ionawr). Fe geir ynddo gymysgedd o ddefnydd ysbrydol a gwybodaeth ymarferol am ein bywyd ar y cyd.

Cliciwch ar y llun uchod i ddarllen copi.

Y bwriad yw cyhoeddi pum rhifyn o Buchedd Bangor dros y flwyddyn, a phob un yn cyd-fynd â chyfnod penodol ym mywyd addoli’r Gadeirlan, ac â chyfres o bregethau ar fore Sul i’n tywys drwy’r cyfnod hwnnw.

Ewch â chopi i eraill fel cyflwyniad i fywyd a bwrlwm y Gadeirlan.

Cefnogaeth

Hollalluog Dduw, a ysbrydolaist dy esgob Deiniol i gasglu o’i gwmpas gymuned o Gristnogion i gyd-fyw bywyd cytun; caniatâ i ni, sy’n anrhydeddu’r cof amdano, weithio i atgyfnerthu teulu dy Eglwys mewn ffydd, gobaith a chariad; trwy Iesu Grist ein Gwaredwr. Amen.

We continue with our Christmastide festivities by celebrating the Epiphany - the coming of the wise men to Bethlehem - this Sunday.

The last of our three traditional, atmospheric and musically-rich carol ceremonies. Please make every effort to attend – the previous two ceremonies have been wonderful.

Ceremony of Carols

Benjamin Britten | The Cathedral Choir
Saturday 29 January at 7.30pm

Come to hear the upper voices of the Cathedral Choir in an atmospheric, candle-lit performance of Benjamin Britten’s wonderful cycle of carols and other works – the perfect way to bring Christmastide to a close. Tickets, on the door: £10 / £5 / children free.

Chalk for our homes

As the Magi came to the Stable in Bethlehem, the makeshift home of the Holy Family, and there found immeasurable blessing, so it is traditional for us to pray for God’s blessings on our homes during the week of the Festival of the Epiphany and on the threhold of the New Year.

To help us do this, chalk is blessed – a reminder that we are dust of the earth, but called to union with Christ.

On Sunday we will us this prayer to bless the chalk at the end of the Choral Eucharist:

Bless, O God, this creature chalk to render it edifying to us. Grant that we who use it in faith, and with it inscribe upon the entrance of our homes the names of your blessed Magi, Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar, may, through the merits of the Light of world, forever abide under the shadow of your wing and in the shelter of your love; through the same Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

We use the chalk to inscribe letters, numbers, a star and crosses above or next to our doorway. The numbers mark the New Year, and the letters are the initials of the names of the Magi and are an abbreviation of the Latin invocation:

“Christus mansionem benedicat,”

which is:

“May Christ bless this house.”

Take some chalk away with you on Sunday, and pray those brief words having inscribed the threshold as follows:

2 0 * C + M + B + 2 2

Car park

Weekday Cathedral car parking permits for 2022 will be available from the Cathedral team at Sunday services from 9 January. A donation is requested. In the meantime, no permits are required for parking in the Cathedral car park at any time; and no permits will be required to park on Sundays until further notice.

Buchedd Bangor

The new magazine of Saint Deiniol’s Cathedral in Bangor

This first edition is a companion to the period from Advent Sunday (28 November) until the end of Christmastide on Candlemas Day (30 January). It offers a mixture of devotional material and practical knowledge about our life together.

Click on the image above to read a copy.

The intention is to publish five issues of Buchedd Bangor over the course of the year, each coinciding with a specific period in the Cathedral’s worshipping life, and complementing a series of Sunday morning sermons that will guide us through each period.
