Y newyddion diweddaraf o Gadeirlan Deiniol Sant ym Mangor a Bro Deiniol

Hysbys wythnosol

Dros yr wythons ddiwethaf yn y Gadeirlan...

Y Sul hwn a'r wythnos o'n blaenau...

Dygwyl y Meirw

Mae Coffadwriaeth yr Holl Eneidiau ar Ddygwyl y Meirw, 2 Tachwedd, yn gyfle blynyddol pwygig i gynnal gerbron Duw mewn gweddi y ffyddloniaid ymadawedig.

Byddwn yn coffáu’r Holl Eneidiau gyda Chymun ar Gân dros y Meirw am 6pm ddydd Mercher 2 Tachwedd. Bydd Côr y Gadeirlan, i gyfeiliant cerddorfa, yn canu gosodiad John Rutter o’r Requiem. Mewn gweddi, addoliad a cherddoriaeth ar y noson hon, bydd ein galar yn cwrdd â’r gobaith a gawn yn harddwch, gwirionedd a chariad Crist. Bydd y Cymun yn cael ei gynnig dros yr holl ffyddloniaid ymadawedig; ond bydd unigolion yn cael eu cofio yn ôl eu henw yn ystod yr ymbiliau. Ychwanegwch enwau at y rhestr yng nghefn Corff yr Eglwys.

Os na allwch fynychu’r Cymun ar Gân dros y Meirw am 6pm, ystyriwch fynychu’r ar Gân dros y Meirw am 12.30pm ddydd Mercher 2 Tachwedd. Bydd Côr y Gadeirlan yn canu gosodiad Gabriel Fauré o’r Requiem. Bydd y Cymun yn cael ei offrymu dros yr holl ffyddloniaid ymadawedig, heb, yn y Cymun hwn, weddïo dros unigolion yn ôl eu henw.

Gosber ar Gân

Edrychwn ymlaen at groesawu Côr Eglwys y Santes Fair, Conwy i ymuno â Chôr y Gadeirlan yn y Gosber ar Gân heno.

Diolch i’n cerddorion am roi o’u hamser yr wythnos ddiwethaf i deithio i Eryri i fod yn rhan o’r darllediad.

Mae ein diolch hefyd i’n Organydd, Martin Brown, am rannu rhai o’i ddelweddau hanesyddol o’r Gadeirlan yn y ddarlith. Ceir recordiad o’r ddarlith ar ein sianel YouTube.

Weekly notices

From this past week at the Cathedral...

This Sunday and the week ahead...

All Souls Day

The Commemoration of All Souls, on 2 November, is an important annual opportunity to hold before God in prayer the faithful departed.

We will be commemorating All Souls with a Choral Requiem Eucharist at 6pm on Wednesday 2 November. Our Cathedral Choir will be accompanied by an orchestra as they sing John Rutter’s setting of the Requiem. In prayer, worship and music on this night, our grief will meet the hope we find in the beauty, truth and love of God in Christ. The Eucharist will be offered for all the faithful departed; but individuals will be remembered by name during the intercessions. Please add names to the list at the back of the Nave.

If you are unable to attend the Choral Requiem Eucharist at 6pm, please consider attending the Choral Requiem Eucharist at 12.30pm on Wednesday 2 November. Our Cathedral Choir will sing Gabriel Fauré’s setting of the Requiem. The 12.30pm Eucharist will be offered for all the faithful departed, without, at this Eucharist, praying for anyone by name.

Choral Evensong

We look forward to welcoming the Choir of St Mary’s Church, Conwy to join their voices with those of the Cathedral Choir at Evensong this evening.

Sunday Worship on Radio 4

Our Assistant Bishop leads Sunday Worship on Radio 4 next Sunday morning 6 November at 8.10am – and available thereafter online. The act of worship was recorded on Snowdon’s slopes, and features our Cathedral Choir singing the hymnody. Our thanks to our musicians for giving of their time this past week to travel to Snowdonia to play their part in the broadcast.

Canon Janet Gough at the end of her lecture

Lecture

We enjoyed a very fine lecture on Thursday evening by Canon Janet Gough. Canon Gough joined us to deliver the inaugural Rt Revd Anthony Crockett Memorial Lecture in Ecclesiology & Church History, focusing on Victorian church architecture and the work of George Gilbert Scott, both at Bangor and further afield. Our thanks also go to our Organist, Martin Brown, for sharing some of his historic images of the Cathedral at the lecture. A recording of the lecture is on the Cathedral’s YouTube channel.

Buchedd Bangor

The fourth edition of Saint Deiniol’s Cathedral in Bangor's new magazine

This fourth edition is a companion to the summer months. It offers a mixture of devotional material and practical knowledge about our life together.

Click on the image above to read a copy.

The intention is to publish five issues of Buchedd Bangor over the course of the year, each coinciding with a specific period in the Cathedral’s worshipping life, and complementing a series of Sunday morning sermons that will guide us through each period.
