O'r Ddarllenfa

Y newyddion diweddaraf o Gadeirlan Deiniol Sant ym Mangor a Bro Deiniol

Hysbys wythnosol

Yn y gwasanaeth Ordeinio Diaconiaid | At the Diaconal Ordination

Cyfres bregethu newydd

“Fel coeden a blannwyd ar lan dyfroedd”
Jeremeia 17:8

Dyma ddechrau heddiw ar gyfres bregethu newydd ar fore Sul.

Mae’r Proffwyd Jeremeia yn dychmygu bywyd wedi’i fyw’n ein gyflawnder – gweledigaeth o’r ddynoliaeth wedi’i phlannu ym mhridd da Duw, wedi’i chynnal drwy wres a sychder gan ffrydiau o ddŵr bywiol, ac yn dwyn ffrwyth mewn gweithredoedd da.

Galwad Iesu Grist i bob un ohonom, yn yr un modd, yw dilyn yn ei ffyrdd da ef, gan geisio’r hyn sy’n dda â’n holl nerth, a dewis y da mewn gweithredoedd pendant – a’n nod yn hyn oll fydd ymdebygu i Grist, i Dduw.

Yn ein pregethau bore Sul dros yr wythnosau hyn, byddwn yn myfyrio ar y ffynonellau sy’n ein helpu i ddirnad beth sy’n foesegol a da, a byddwn yn ystyried y rhinweddau hynny sy’n caniatáu inni feddwl, teimlo a gweithredu dros Dduw ac er daioni.

The Very Gate of Heaven

Mae Canon Michael Outram, a fu’n Ganon Bencantor y Gadeirlan ac sy’n awdur gweithiau am hanes y Gadeirlan, wedi cyhoeddi llyfr newydd.

Mae “The Very Gate of Heaven: The Musicians and Music of Bangor Cathedral” yn adrodd hanes Côr y Gadeirlan o’r dyddiau cynnar hyd 1969. Mae’n waith pwysig a chynhwysfawr, ac yn hanes lliwgar.

Mae copïau ar gael ar werth ar ôl gwasanaethau’r Sul am bris o £7 (gyda thaliad gydag union arian parod neu gerdyn / taliad digyswllt, os gwelwch yn dda).

Cynhelir Cyfarfodydd Cynulleidfaol yn y Gadeirlan am 6.30pm, ar ôl Gosber (am 5.30pm) ar y dyddiau canlynol: 29 Medi, 8 Rhagfyr.

Cyd-Bererinion y Gadeirlan

Ein bwriad yw ail-lansio Cyfeillion y Gadeirlan dan deitl “Cyd-Bererinion y Gadeirlan”.

Dyma gyfle i rai o bell ac agos ddod yn rhan o fywyd y Gadeirlan, gan gyfranogi o’i hysbrydolrwydd, gan gefnogi ei datblygiad, a chan gyd-deithio gyda ni oll fel cyd-bererinion.

Ein nod yw dathlu’r Sul hwn yn 2023, a hithau’n ddiwedd “tymor” y Côr, fel dydd gŵyl y Cyd-Bererinion.

Os hoffech fod yn rhan o arwain y fenter hon, cysylltwch â’r Is-Ddeon.

New sermon series

“Like a tree planted by water”
Jeremiah 17:8

This Sunday we begin a new sermon series at our Sunday morning services.

Jeremiah the Prophet imagines a life well-lived – a vision of humanity planted in God’s good soil, refreshed in heat and drought by streams of living water, and bearing the fruit of good works.

Jesus Christ’s call to all of us, likewise, is to follow in his good ways, to pursue the good with all our powers, and to choose the good in concrete actions – and our goal in all of this, to become Christ-like, like God.

In our Sunday morning sermons over these weeks, we will reflect on the sources that help us to discern what is ethical and good, and we will consider those virtues that allow us to think, feel and act for God and for good.

The Very Gate of Heaven

Canon Michael Outram, sometime Canon Precentor of the Cathedral and an author of works about the Cathedral’s history, has published a new book.

“The Very Gate of Heaven: Mae Musicians and Music of Bangor Cathedral” tells the story of the Cathedral Choir from the earliest days until 1969. It’s an important and comprehensive work, and a colourful history.

Copies are available for sale after Sunday services at a price of £7 (with payment by exact cash or card / contactless payment, please).

Congregational Meetings

Congregational Meetings will take place in the Cathedral at 6.30pm, after Evensong (at 5.30pm) on the following days: 29 September, 8 December.

Pilgrim-Friends of the Cathedral

We intend to relaunch the Friends of the Cathedral under the title of “Pilgrim-Friends of Saint Deiniol’s Cathedral”.

This is an opportunity for those from far and wide to become part of the life of the Cathedral, participating in its spirituality, supporting its development, and travelling with us all as fellow pilgrims.

We aim to celebrate this Sunday in 2023, marking as it does the end of the Choir’s “term”, as the festival day of the Pilgrim-Friends.

If you would like to be involved in leading this initiative, please contact the Sub-Dean.

The fourth edition of Saint Deiniol’s Cathedral in Bangor's new magazine

This fourth edition is a companion to the summer months. It offers a mixture of devotional material and practical knowledge about our life together.

Click on the image above to read a copy.

The intention is to publish five issues of Buchedd Bangor over the course of the year, each coinciding with a specific period in the Cathedral’s worshipping life, and complementing a series of Sunday morning sermons that will guide us through each period.
