Gwaith i adeiledd y Gadeirlan
Mae gwaith ar chwythwr organau pib y Gadeirlan yn parhau i ddigwydd ac yn mynd yn dda. Rydym yn ddiolchgar i’n cerddorion am wneud iawn am y llai o rymoedd cerddorol sydd ar gael inni oherwydd bod rhannau o’r organ yn cael eu dadgomisiynu yn ystod y gwaith, y disgwylir iddo gael ei gwblhau yn ystod mis Awst.
Mae rhifyn cyfredol Buchedd Bangor yn amlinellu’r gwaith a fydd yn digwydd yn ystod Awst a Medi i osod system glywedol newydd yn y Gadeirlan. Gwneir gwaith hefyd dros fisoedd yr haf a’r hydref i waith maen Tŵr Ysgefitwn (ym mhen gorllewinol y Gadeirlan) a Thŵr Scott (ym mhwynt canolog y Gadeirlan), i wynebau’r cloc, ac i brif ddrysau’r Gadeirlan.
Dodrefn newydd ar gyfer Corff yr Eglwys
Ar gyfer cyfarfod diweddar o Gabidwl y Gadeirlan, bu i’r dylunydd dodrefn Luke Hughes baratoi prototeipiau o ddodrefn newydd ar gyfer Corff yr Eglwys. Bwriad y Cabidwl yw cymeradwyo set newydd o ddodrefn ar gyfer Corff yr Eglwys (gan gynnwys meinciau seddau, bwrdd yr allor a stondinau côr) sydd wedi’u dylunio’n benodol i gydgysylltu â chynllun addurniadol Scott ar gyfer to Corff yr Eglwys a’r Cwîr a’r Seintwar, tra hefyd yn hyblyg ac yn symudol i ymdopi â hyblygrwydd y defnydd cynyddol sy’n cael ei wneud ar hyn o bryd o adeilad y Gadeirlan yn feunyddiol.
Bydd manylion llawn y cynllun yn cael eu hamlinellu yn rhifyn Medi Buchedd Bangor.
Yn y cyfamser, mae rhai o’r prototeipiau i’w canfod yng Nghapel Mair. Ceir yma hefyd ddogfen wedi ei pharatoi ar gyfer y Cabidwl sy'n amlinellu cynlluniau a'r dewisiadau ar gyfer y dodrefn newydd. Croesewir pob adborth am y cynlluniau a'r dewisiadau.
Siaradwch â’r Is-Ddeon neu â’n Rheolwr Prosiect Cadwraeth a Datblygu, Simon Ogdon, os hoffech wybod mwy am unrhyw agwedd ar y gwaith cadwraeth a datblygu hyn.

Weekly notices
Visiting choir
We’re delighted that our choral provision continues over the summer months. We are delighted to have the Choir of Shrewsbury Abbey with us this weekend. We welcome them to Bangor, and thank them for enriching our worship.
Next week we welcome the Choir of Saint Mary and All Saint’s Church, Conwy at 11am and 3.30pm.
Bring & Share Lunch and Strawberry Tea
Great thanks are due to all who took part in the recent extremely jolly Bring & Share Lunch and Strawberry Tea. It was extremely good to be able to socialize together once again and offer warm hospitality.
Our intention is to hold a similar Bring & Share Lunch on Harvest Thanksgiving Sunday, 2 October 2022. All from across the Cathedral community are welcome to attend, and there is no charge.
Camau Bach
On Tuesday 20 September we will be launching a new weekly toddler group here at the Cathedral, called Camau Bach (Baby Steps). Running from 9am until 10.30am, the group will provide parents and carers with pre-school aged children a space to sit, chat and enjoy a cuppa alongside others. The local Health Visitors will be joining us each week to offer support and advice for the parents. If you would like to be a part of the Camau Bach volunteer team, helping make cups of tea and chatting with the parents and carers, either on a weekly or more occasional basis, please speak to Naomi Wood.
Works to the Cathedral fabric
Works to the Cathedral’s pipe organ blower are continuing to take place and going well. We are grateful to our musicians for compensating for the reduced musical forces at our disposal due to parts of the organ being decommissioned for the duration of the works, which are expected to be completed during August.
The current issue of Buchedd Bangor outlines the work that will take place during August and September to install a new audio-visual system in the Cathedral. Over the summer months and into the autumn, we also expect repair and restoration work to be undertaken to the external masonry of the Skeffington Tower (at the west end of the Cathedral) and the Scott Tower (at the central point of the Cathedral), to the clock faces, and to the Cathedral’s main doors.
New furniture for the Nave of the Cathedral
For the recent Cathedral Chapter, the furniture designer Luke Hughes prepared prototypes of new furniture for the Nave of the Cathedral. The Chapter’s intention is to commend a new set of furniture for the Nave (including pew benches, altar-table and choir stalls) that are specifically designed to coordinate with the Scott decorative scheme for the Nave roof and the Quire and Presbytery, while also being flexible and moveable to accommodate with flexibility the greater day-to-day use that is currently being made of the Cathedral building.
Full details of the scheme will be outlined in the September issue of Buchedd Bangor.
In the meantime, some of the Luke Hughes prototypes can be seen in the Lady Chapel. Here, the Luke Hughes document, prepared for the Chapter and outlining and plans and options regarding the new furniture, can be read. All comments and feedback are warmly welcome.
Please speak to the Sub-Dean or to our Conservation & Development Project Manager, Simon Ogdon, if you would like to know more about any aspect of these maintenance, conservation and development works.

The intention is to publish five issues of Buchedd Bangor over the course of the year, each coinciding with a specific period in the Cathedral’s worshipping life, and complementing a series of Sunday morning sermons that will guide us through each period.
